Your Local Real Estate Team
Over the past few weeks we have been sitting down and having the discussion of what it really means to be a team, not just the term ‘team’ as in how a large company floats it around, as if that will somehow magically bond a group of individuals to work hard together. Rather, the term in it’s literal sense, a group of individuals working together for a common goal.
We have come to the realization that we have to be picky, and I mean really picky when it comes to hiring on new agents and office staff. Yes that means turning away a good agent that could bring in a good chunk of money for the firm, but that ultimately will have a negative impact on our image or relationships. An individual can really impact the larger group with their energy, ethics and productivity resulting in pulling our team down or boosting us up!
Which brings us to the first and very important benefit of using us as a local brokerage, we do not just hire on anyone. One of our main goals as a brokerage is to foster individuals goals while also making sure that the team impact is considered. There are literally firms that will take on just about any new agent no questions asked to collect a paycheck. Yet another reason why a majority of agents fail within the first year with insufficient training and guidance.
Each one of our staff has been through a rigorous hiring process, a process we now do as a group, just ask any one of our staff about their experience, they will likely give you a chuckle because all the hoops that they had to deal with when entering the doors at the office for a position. One such example is Matt’s unrelenting followup with the 30 references he requested before doing an interview, yes he called and verified every. single. one of them.
“I had several people calling me, many that I have not heard from in a while stating that some guy called to ask about me, I really had to dig to get that many references, I was hoping they all still had good things to say about me lol, apparently they did ” -Dan
Lately we have been working to foster our team outside of work with adventures such as the company kayak trip, volunteering with 2nd Harvest, thirsty third Thursday’s (picking a random local place to hang enjoy company and have some end of the day beverages), and of course our office parties/events such as our Summer BBQ coming up on the 20th of July, International Tabletop Day (board gaming) and annual Fall Open House.
If you are considering listing your home or buying a house choose an agent that thinks beyond themselves, one the works as a team with their fellow co-workers to work hard for you, we promise you will have a different real estate experience this go round’!
